Ashdown Forest

Summer is finally here and we want to share our long Kent route perfect for long summer days. Rolling out from Crystal Palace, South East London, after a pre-ride espresso at Four Boroughs we head straight though the rolling Kent hills taking on the classic training climbs up Layhams Road and Beddlestead Lane and then dipping down to Westerham. From here we climb back up towards Chartwell House, home of Sir Winston Churchill and Hever Castle. Kidd’s Hill, aka The Wall is the furtherst point, save your legs for this one, as the name suggests it’s brutal and is the longest and hardest climb you’ll face. It marks the halfway point on the route and our prefered cafe stop is 20 km from Kidd’s Hill at the amazing Kingdom, a tree house cafe/restarant with great food and drinks to refule on. London is a lumpy 40km from Kingdom, weaving through Penshurst Places estate and back over The Ridge. We suggest finishing the ride with geleto at Oddono’s in East Dulwich, it’s the best geleto in London, hands down, and is the perfect way to end a big day in the saddle.
